Our Covid-19 Policy

Management of Gitcombe Estate and COVID Compliance.

We understand that some of you are anxious about these tricky times, so we have tried to list some helpful guidelines.  Your holiday, safety and enjoyment are of paramount importance to owners Peter and his Father Rodney.  Please read through these guidelines.  We know that you, our lovely Gitcombe guests, will respect each other and will adhere to these constraints resulting in everybody enjoying their holiday on the Estate.

Your property will be unlocked on your arrival and Peter will socially distance when greeting you.  It is not essential for you to be met as information on your stay and cottages can be found on our web site:

Plan your stay/services in your cottage 

(there is information on everything from local doctors to food deliveries). The Guest Services manual has full details on your property and is available in a laminated, cleaned folder. 

Arrival time is no earlier than 4pm and entry to your cottage could be delayed to 7 pm, please arrange your food delivery to arrive after this time. Do not arrive any earlier than 4 pm and we will text you to say when your cottage has been checked over by your host.  You are welcome to picnic on the lawns from 4 pm to 7 pm if your property is not ready.  Your departure time will be one hour earlier at 9.00 am. Please do not access your cottage until advised.

Guests are asked not to come to The Estate if they have any Covid symptoms or have been in contact with other people who may have been affected.  Guests are requested to advise Gitcombe of any Covid symptoms post their stay.   Please avoid inviting additional guests onto the Estate.

Our professional team of housekeepers will use approved cleaning products in line with government requirements and will ensure a deep clean takes place of each property prior to the new guest arrival. A cleaning supervisor will be on site and rigorous check lists will be fulfilled prior to your arrival.  Your arrival times may be slightly delayed, ensuring this is not rushed. 

Each property will have an additional cleaning kit which will have a comprehensive range of extra cleaning products, stocked up weekly, for guests to use.  Sanitation will be available next to DVD’s and books etc.

All shared facilities will be monitored and managed by Rodney and Peter who will be on hand from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.  Sanitation units, bins, hand wipes in dispensers etc will be available at all of the shared facilities.

Social distancing will be The GITCOMBE practice, and we will supervise the interim cleans of the shared facilities and if necessary, a rota system will be in operation. We will mark out the outdoor pool so 3 to 4 families may use the fenced-off area and 2 families will be able to socially distance in the pool.  The indoor pool and facilities will be on a rota basis.  The soft play area may be shut.

We will hold a stock of tennis rackets, balls, crabbing lines etc if you use you must wipe down afterward but please try and bring your own things.

24  hrs prior to your departure a refuse sack and a laundry bag will be left outside your holiday home.  Please bag up your own laundry/towels and sheets.  Please put dirty tea towels and oven gloves on the top of the bag.  Collect up all your rubbish, to include any soaps/shampoo etc. and seal in the bag provided.  Load the dishwasher, switch on, and open all the windows prior to departure.

If there is another lockdown and the government prevents you from traveling, we will defer your booking or refund your balance.
