Garden House is particularly well suited to active family holidays—whether returning from the beach, countryside walks or days spent by the pool, the thoughtful layout and ample storage make it easy to settle in and feel completely at home.
A large enclosed entrance porch provides excellent storage for coats, wellies, beach gear, surfboards, buckets, spades and all the essentials that come with a Devon holiday—practical, generous and incredibly useful for families.
Inside, the light-filled open-plan living area is wonderfully spacious, with a vaulted, beamed ceiling creating a sense of height and calm. There is plenty of room for both adults and children to spread out, whether relaxing together or enjoying their own space.
A cosy wood-burning stove sits at the heart of the room, complemented by comfortable sofas and armchairs, making it an inviting space in every season. A flat-screen TV is perfect for relaxed evenings, while French doors open onto the private terrace, connecting indoor and outdoor living beautifully.
The generous open-plan kitchen is well-equipped for larger groups, with a central island unit, hob and oven, and plenty of workspace for preparing family meals.
An arched window frames lovely views across the grounds and tennis court, adding to the sense of space and connection to the outdoors.
The large refectory-style dining table, with chairs and bench seating for 10–12, creates a wonderful setting for sociable meals—whether it’s a lively family dinner or a relaxed breakfast before heading out for the day. For Coffee Machine pods please order or bring compostable ones that are compatible with Nespresso Citi Z & Milk Coffee Machine by Magimi. These can be purchased from Amazon here.

Bed three,A small twin room with two 2’6” single beds. There is space for a cot, though it is a little tight.
Bed four, A compact “twin” bunk room with L-shaped cabin beds, ideal for children (best suited for under 12s). If the lower bed is not in use, the mattress and base can be removed to allow space for a cot within the frame (please request in advance). Not suitable for a cot when both beds are in use.

The cottage is centrally heated throughout, with underfloor heating on the first floor and conventional oil-fired radiators on the ground floor, ensuring comfort in every season.

The large private terrace is a wonderful space for outdoor living, with beautiful views across the Devon countryside, wooden dining furniture and a built-in BBQ—perfect for relaxed al fresco meals.
A hidden sun deck adds an extra touch of charm, complete with Adirondack-style loungers, offering a peaceful spot to unwind.
A private, leafy pathway leads from the cottage down to the indoor swimming pool via gently sloping steps, creating a delightful and secluded route to the estate’s facilities.
The property benefits from its own private driveway and parking area directly outside. Guests are advised to reverse up to the cottage for ease of access. Additional parking is available in the main parking area behind the cottages.
Two EV charging points are located in the main parking area. Guests should bring their own charging cable and contact the Gitcombe team to arrange an upfront payment or book at “check out” when making your reservation
