Three steps lead up to the entrance and into a stylish living area with a deep, comfortable sofa and armchairs — just the place to unwind after a day exploring South Devon. A modern flat-screen smart TV is ready for relaxed evenings indoors. French doors open onto a small standing balcony with lovely views across the grounds and rolling hills beyond.
Gated stairs lead up to a mezzanine level with a sofa — a perfect den for older children, quiet reading, or a little extra space of your own. Gated stairs also lead down to the ground-floor bedrooms.
The sleek kitchen is thoughtfully designed with generous workspace and everything needed for relaxed holiday cooking. A dining table seating six sits alongside, making it easy to gather everyone together for breakfast before a day out, or a simple supper made with fresh local produce.
Bed one
A compact room with a standard double bed and space for a cot. French doors open directly onto the large patio — a lovely spot to sit outside with a morning coffee or enjoy a relaxed meal while keeping an eye on little ones playing on the lawn.
For taller guests, please take care as the door frame leading outside is quite low.
Bed two
A compact twin room with limited space between the beds for a cot.
Additional Sleeping
A large single sofa bed is available on the open-plan mezzanine floor above the living area. This space is best suited to an older child or adult.
An elegant shower room with WC, hand basin and heated towel rail. While there is no bath in Meavy Cottage, a portable baby bath is available for families travelling with little ones.
The cottage is centrally heated throughout, with underfloor heating adding extra comfort.
The patio, accessed from the double bedroom, enjoys lovely views across the tennis court and children’s playground. A wooden picnic bench and Weber BBQ make it a wonderful spot for relaxed outdoor meals — perhaps a family barbecue in the evening while the children play on the lawns below or wildlife wanders through the surrounding fields.
There is plenty of space to sit, eat and enjoy the sunshine, and although it means carrying a few things down the stairs, guests often say the views and peaceful setting make it well worth it.
Parking is available in the general parking area behind the cottages.
Two electric vehicle charging points are in the parking area. Guests should bring their own charging cable and “add to booking” or contact the Gitcombe team to arrange an upfront credit card payment.
