The Maltsters Arms, Tuckenhay
7 Min Drive / 30 Min Walk
Just a 7-minute drive or a leisurely 30-minute walk from our estate, The Maltsters Arms is a local treasure. Previously owned by the flamboyant TV chef Keith Floyd, this famous pub sits right “on the creek,” offering an idyllic setting for alfresco dining. With its delicious seafood and fine wines, and a view up the river that’s nothing short of spectacular, it’s our go-to for a relaxing meal by the water. Plus, it’s accessible by boat at high tide for those looking for a truly unique arrival.
The Ferry Boat Inn, Dittisham
20 Min Drive / 1 Hour 20 Min Walk
Known affectionately as The FBI, this pub features what some claim to be one of the best views in the world. After a day spent crabbing off the pontoon or visiting Agatha Christie’s Greenway House, The FBI offers a welcome respite. Enjoy their famous pizzas and a selection of real ales before heading back up the hill – a pit stop here is a must.
The Crabshell, Kingsbridge
25 Min Drive
A cool hangout popular with both tourists and locals, The Crabshell is the place to be on long summer evenings. Accessible by boat from Salcombe at high tide, it offers fantastic food from an extensive menu, setting the scene for memorable nights by the water.
The Sloop Inn, Bantham
30 Min Drive
Just a stone’s throw from Bantham’s world-class surfing beach, The Sloop Inn is a 14th-century pub with unbeatable views over Bigbury Bay & Burgh Island. Whether you’re coming off the beach, the coastal path, the golf course, or just exploring the sand dunes, it’s the perfect spot for excellent pub food and a refreshing drink.
The Pilchard Inn, Burgh Island
40 Min Drive
Quenching thirsts since 1336, The Pilchard Inn on iconic Burgh Island has character in spades. Cut off from the mainland at high tide and only accessible via the Sea Tractor, it’s an exceptional place to enjoy an ice cream and take in the tidal views.
