Gitcombe House lies off a country lane near Cornworthy village, between Totnes and Dartmouth, in south Devon. Our entrance is marked by two traditional Devon stone pillars, engraved 'Gitcombe House'. A driveway leads down into the valley, for about a quarter of a mile. The entrance is unlit at night.
Our postcode is TQ9 7HH. Our directions are the shortest in time and distance, taking you through picturesque villages and along winding, sometimes narrow lanes. Satellite navigation systems may suggest a different route.
Gitcombe is not directly served by public transport, so if travelling without a car, we suggest hiring one for the duration of your stay. Our local car hire company, B H Autobodies, is located adjacent to Totnes railway station.
We are about 40 minutes from Exeter and 30 minutes from Plymouth. The M4, M5 and A303 have many places to stop for refreshment and fuel, or you can divert onto the minor roads for more peaceful spots to break your journey. The last petrol station before Gitcombe is in Totnes, or further afield near Dartmouth.
The nearest railway station is Totnes, 15 minutes away. This is the main London (Paddington) Penzance line. The fast, direct service from London, by First Great Western, is three hours. Taxis are available at the station.
