Frequently said but very true, a fantastic place! We love Devon but Gitcombe is the icing on the cake.
Came down en masse for granny's 70th - 16 of us had a great time. Loved the crabbing in Dittisham and hired a boat to go to Dartmouth. Wonderful caterer - Elaine (Day) - for excellent in-house ssupper in Garden House - a real treat! Los of tennis, swimming and fun. Lucie tip top baby sitter.
Beautiful, secret hideaway from the world - wonderful facilities that overcome even the worst weather!
The best long weekend ever! Heaven in its own magical valley. The facilities are second to none.
Our second time here. Loved it. Amazing weather and a perfect fortnight. One of us learned to swim and the rest of us just ate lots (amazing lobsters from the fishmonger in Dartmouth, lunch at the Oyster Shack in Bigbury, etc). We'll be back next year....
Our fifth visit to gorgeous Gitcombe and we have loved every minute, as usual! The weather has been rather soggy but we still enjoyed Gitcombe's marvellous facilities. Highlights supper and crabbing at the Anchorstone Cafe in Dittisham, canoeing from Tuckenhay with Canoe Adventures and a trip on the sea tractor (at Bigbury) and the ferry from South Sands to Salcombe.
Stylish, sophisticated, spotlessly clean in a stunning location and child-friendly. We love it.
Wonderful first holiday with our 11 month old. Spectacular surroundings. Great pool and play area.
A perfect place to escape to and unwind! So much thought has gone into Gitcombe, you've thought of everything! Very child friendly. Hot tub setting is fantastic.
Cottages and facilities in top draw.
Recommend the 'Picnic Boat' for a treat and Riverford Field Kitchen and walk for fantastic food (and value)! The facilities were once again just marvellous. A great place to return to......
A lovely cottage in a very special place. We enjoyed all the first class facilities and had some great days out - the miniature pony centre is absolutely fantastic and we also enjoyed Overbecks (Nat Trust house & garden) and Salcombe. Great bbq meat from Luscombe's in Totnes.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. Angus (11 months) had his first swim.
Loved it here, if we come to Devon, this is the place to be! The children loved the pool and (outdoor) playground.
A brilliant week. A beautiful barn & amazing attention to detail. We loved Bigbury beach. I recommend the Winking Prawn at North Sands, Salcombe. Jack Spratts (Salcombe) also very good for children. So much more to do next time! Thank you for the sunshine. We will miss Tango!
A grown up's 'treat'!
After a 9 1/2 hour journey (!!) we have come to a wonderful holiday home - it was worth it. We've seen foxes from the balcony and a buzzard sitting on a post. Blackpool Sands beach lovely. Saw a massive tall ship in Dartmouth Harbour, which last came in 1964! Took the boat to the castle - really good. Weather 75 degrees all week! Fab! PS We've eaten lots of lovely cheese from Totnes (Ticklemore Cheese Shop, Ticklemore Lane).
Fantastic stay - our second. No better oasis when you're sitting in the jacuzzi looking at the rapeseed in full fettle. Great place, great escape.
Top notch!
Perfect cottage. Perfect weather. Perfect for Poppy; she was the most excited we have ever seen her. Lovely early evening walk around Sharpham Vineyard, also walking through bluebell woods near Salcombe and to the Waterman's Pub (at Tuckenhay).
The setting here is so lovely and feels so safe for the children to play in. The children loved the pools and tennis court, and playing with Tango.

Lovely bathrooms and clean white linen. Fresh flowers were a personal, welcoming touch.
We enjoyed all the facilities and especially the good nights sleep with a tired-out baby!
Lovely and green and peaceful, died and gone to heaven!
A truly wonderful spot - so peaceful and relaxing. Facilities excellent for the family and plenty of places to visit within easy reach - throughly recommendable!
Great weather for the end of Sept! Alex (2+) loved playing on the sandy beachs of Salcombe and then relaxing in the (Coach House) jacuzzi at the end of the day!
Perfect week. Splendid facilities. Big bonus is it's weather proof!
Camilla, at Foodie Feasts, was fantastic and bought us home cooked meals each evening - they were delicious and reasonable.
The most wonderful way to celebrate my birthday with all my children and grandchildren. The pirate ship was a great success!
Pools and hot tub were fantastic. Thank you for recommending Dittisham – the children loved crabbing!
We had a ball! Too old for Blackpool….and all too keen for relaxation with fabulous friends in a perfect setting. We all want to bring our children now!
Fantastic surroundings and cottage. Loved to walk through the fields to the Watermans Arms.
What a gorgeous haven! We haven't seen Charlie (10) as he's been in the pool and hot tub! Dartmouth is as lovely as ever - a must to visit.
Almost impossible to fault. Wonderful facilities in spectacular area. Parents, children and grandparents have all had a superb week.
Really loved the Hayloft as well as the rest of the facilities. Will definitely be back as found ourselves very relaxed and have fallen head over heels for South Hams and this part of Devon.

Lovely weather, great walks, beaches and games of tennis.
Our second successful week here. Spoilt by wonderful weather for Easter! Swimming and hot tub huge hit with children. Shopping in Salcombe a hit for mummy! Thoroughly relaxing at this fabulous location.
We enjoyed being in the Coach House, although hosting a party of 19 in the Garden House. A great Christmas with facilities for our 8 grandchildren to keep busy all week. Also celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with a beautifully presented meal by Rosie Weston (local private chef).
Venus Beach Cafes at Bigbury, Blackpool Sands and Portlemouth fantastic - organic meals for children.
First family holiday with Maisy 11 weeks, had a relaxing time (as relaxing as you can with a baby around). Lovely place.
Reminds us of the 'Doone valley' from the book Lorna Doone. Perfect peace, tranquility and excellent accommodation. My first visit but certainly not my last. Exceptional.
Blessed with two weeks of glorious weather. Our daughter, aged 5, finally abandoned rubber ring to swim with arm bands only and then
progressed to no arm bands - a huge step forward - so thank you for 2 fantastic pools!
Bigbury-on-sea is the best little person beach - flat, sandy and calm, plus rock pools and millions of sand eels (little fish) to chase in the sea.
A lovely relaxing holiday, even with a 2 1/2 year old! The cottage is well equipped and everything works which makes a change!
Great time had by all. Excellent tennis, superb swimming pool, great but challenging bike rides to and especially back from Maltsters Arms - great food. 62 crabs caught off ittisham pier. Great walks from cottage down Dart Valley trail all the way to Blackpool Sands. Going home exhausted!
We have had a lovely time - well, Charlotte has had a fantastic time which means mum, dad and nana have too. Have fun!
Perfect combination of facilities for us and (own) baby monitor works from the tennis court! We are not ready to go home. In fact my daughter wants to live here.
By far the best barn we have stayed in ……beautifully appointed.
Fabulous fortnight! Children loved the swimming pool and Tango (resident pooch). A truly beautiful part of the world with wonderful pubs, great crabbing at Dittisham, beach at Bigbury. Dartmouth Regatta a great experience. Highly recommend the Picnic Boat.
Gitcombe is magic! An amazing atmosphere of tranquility but with so much to do on the doorstep. The narrow lanes tested our nerves, but we loved everything else - the pools, the hot tub, soft play area on site and some great days out. We were spoilt for choice and could have spent another week here.
Accommodation was outstanding. Really enjoyed our short break. Salcombe was a really nice town to vsit. Would definitely recommend location to family and friends.
Perfect for a winter break - having been in the summer and winter, we preferred the indoor swimming pool and outdoor hot tub in the frosty winter mornings. Thank you.
Another very relaxing break at Gitcombe. A great place to celebrate William's 12th birthday - felt like we were the only family here! Saw and heard no-one - bliss!!
If you had a bar here, we’d never need to leave the estate!
We have had a fabulous week. There is something here for all the family. Also had great fun building fires and cooking on the Aga! Wonderful.
Truly relaxing. Truly Conran with sheep. See you again.
We found Pennywell Farm excellent - especially for children aged 9/10 and under who love animals. Very well run and lots going on for short attention spans!
The leisure facilities are first class and the area affords so many opportunities to explore the wonderful scenery, splendid historical houses and good shopping! Eating out every evening has been a real joy.
Henry loved Tango (resident pooch) and I loved the Aga! (Aga is in the Coach House)
Swimming pool, hot tub, crabbing at Dittisham/Dartmouth all great fun! Breakfasts at the New Angel, shopping for good quality food at Totnes & Dartmouth and the superb sandy beach walks at Bigbury and Bantham. We'll be back. Lucy loved Tango.

Think the location, quality of facilities and views are absolutely outstanding. Thank you for the recommendations for Anzacs (Bistro) – had a fantastic meal and the flowers (in the house) were absolutely beautiful.
We have had a fantastic and memorable stay and trust all your guests will enjoy and appreciate the care and attention you have obviously put into the place as much as we have.
Well worth going to Salcombe and getting boat across to East Portlemouth beach. Also the walk from Little Dartmouth to Dartmouth, along the coast, is beautiful.
We’ve had a great week. Weather was very good to us although with all these facilities, it doesn’t matter about the weather. Sitting in the hot tub, under the stars, is an absolute must!
